Hardly anything reminds us of the 70s era apartment that was the basis of this alteration project. On the contrary: with the owner of the house and his partner, modern times have moved in here.
You will look in vain for white walls in this Ulm apartment. Instead, its inhabitants are welcomed by a harmonious colour concept of warm grey and natural tones. Black accents give the rooms depth and lead the eye - from the framed mirror in the entrance area, which gives the hallway a wide effect, to the open living area with its dining table made of black marble and the cleverly hidden built-in niches as a drinks bar, through the narrow hallway to the combined sleeping and dressing area.
New sound insulation reinforces the 70s era apartment and keeps out ambient noise. The materials are a mix of oak wood, natural stone, linen, leather and metallic lacquer finishes and run like a thread through the apartment in nuances of warm natural tones. The floor plan, furniture, decoration, even curtains and art are coordinated down to the smallest detail, yet everything fits together casually, unpretentiously, almost as if by chance. The roof terrace in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living/dining area is perhaps the only reason to leave the interior comfort zone now and then.
